About This Site
Hello, my name is Andrei Larionov. I live in Ontario with my wife and 3 children.I have launched this web page to inform my fellow Ontarians about the impact of“Single Tax” a.k.a. “Harmonization” measure proposed by our Liberals-lead government. As you might have guessed already, I strongly oppose this policy.Government of Ontario attempts to hide a very significant tax increase behind an otherwise good idea of merging Provincial and Federal sales taxes.
I am appalled by the way public opinion is being manipulated and by lack of information coming from our elected representatives. Just one example of such manipulation is the so-called “Personal Tax Relief Calculator” that estimates tax savings that we get from a miniscule 1% tax cut to the lowest income bracket while ignoring a much more significant tax increase that will result from paying 8% more for many goods and services and will offset the personal income tax cut.As you will find out from my calculator, your family can end up paying between 1,000 and 1,500 a year in additional taxes on fuel, services, and other items - in perpetuity, year after year. As history shows, new taxes are here to stay. We should do all we can to prevent this new tax from happening. In case you wonder about this web page’s “hidden agenda”:- I am not affiliated with any political parties
- I am not paid by any organization or individual to create and maintain this web page, it is completely financed from my own money.
- I want this “Single Tax” proposal to be stopped, or modified so that it is tax–neutral. Tax neutrality can be achieved by either lowering provincial income tax rate for all brackets, or by lowering provincial portion of HST from the current 8% to say 6% or 7%.
- If “Single Tax” measure passes, I will do my best to ensure that Ontarians know whom they have to thank for it (Liberal Party). As I do not have budget or time to achieve this for all of Ontario, I will at least make sure that everybody in my riding of Richmond Hill is informed.
